The Egyptians said that the topaz was colored by the golden rays of the powerful sun god Ra. This made the topaz a powerful amulet that protected the faithful from danger. P>
The Romans associated the topaz with Jupiter, who was also the god of the sun. Topaz sometimes has the amber gold of pure cognac, or the color of a peach and all the wonderful warmth between brown and orange. Some rare and exceptional topazes range from pale pink to cherry red. P>

Wear a topaz only if you want to be clearly noticed: the legend says that it melts all the spells and also helps to improve the sight! p>
The ancient Greeks believed that it had the power to increase the strength and make invisible in case of emergency who wore it. It was also said that topaz changed color in the presence of drinks or poisoned foods. P>

Its mystical healing forces grew or decreased with the phases of the moon: it was said that it cured the insomnia, asthma and hemorrhages. The most famous topaz is perhaps a giant set in the Portuguese Crown, the Braganza, which was initially thought to be a diamond. There is also a beautiful topaz set in the Green Vola in Dresden, one of the most important gem collections in the world. The brown, yellow, orange, cherry, red and pink topazes are found in Brazil and Sri Lanka. P>

The pink topazes are found in Pakistan and Russia. Today we also have blue topazes, which have a pale blue to medium blue color created by irradiation. The pale topaz that is enriched to become blue is found in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and China. At the beginning of 1998, a new type of enriched topaz appeared, the surface topaz enriched, with colors ranging from blue to greenish blue to emerald green. P>
Topaz is a gem indeed hard, but it can be splintered in a breath, a characteristic that it shares with the diamond. p>
